Terms of Service
Effective date: 21 October 2026
These terms explain how you may use Shimi at askpractical.com and through its supported messaging, email and telephone channels. Shimi is currently an invitation-only pilot for personal and business assistance. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the Shimi team that provides your pilot access, and “you” means the person using the service.
1. Your account
You must be at least 18 and have a valid invitation to use the pilot. Give accurate account information, use only contact details and accounts you control, and keep your sign-in codes and telephone PIN private. If you use Shimi for a business, you must have permission to provide its information and request actions on its behalf. Tell the team that invited you promptly if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
2. What Shimi does
Shimi uses AI to help with tasks such as email, appointments, reminders, research and working with selected files. Available features depend on your account, connected services and the current pilot. Some features may be unavailable or subject to usage limits. We will make material limitations clear when offering a feature.
AI can misunderstand instructions, produce inaccurate information or omit important details. Check important answers, recipients, dates and proposed changes before relying on them. Shimi is not an emergency service or a substitute for qualified medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Do not rely on it as the sole safeguard for time-critical or safety-critical tasks.
3. Connected accounts and your permissions
Connecting Google, Microsoft or another supported service authorises Shimi to access the information covered by the permissions you grant, for the features you request. Only connect accounts and files you are entitled to use. Those providers have their own terms and may change or interrupt their services.
Sending email, changing appointments and editing files require your approval for the specific action or a matching standing permission you have granted. Review each approval carefully, including any warning about replacing file content or formatting. You can disconnect accounts and revoke standing permissions in Settings. Revocation prevents future access under that permission; it cannot undo actions already completed.
4. Responsible use
Do not use Shimi to break the law, infringe another person’s rights, impersonate someone, send spam or harassment, distribute malware, gain unauthorised access, or evade security and usage controls. Do not share another person’s confidential information unless you have authority to do so. You must not resell access to your pilot account or use it to interfere with the service or other users.
Topics including news, entertainment, blogs, Torah study and respectful faith questions are allowed. Sexually explicit adult content and promotion of kefirah are restricted. Account privacy, security and action permissions remain enforced. Shimi does not claim rabbinic authority or provide binding rulings.
5. Your content and privacy
You retain your rights in the information and files you provide. You give us permission to process that content, and to use service providers to process it, only as needed to provide, secure and support Shimi and carry out your authorised requests. These terms do not transfer ownership of your content to us. AI output may not be unique, and you should check that you have the rights needed for your intended use.
Our privacy statement explains data handling, retention, memory and deletion. You can export your account data and request account deletion in Settings. Deletion stops account access immediately; removal from active stores and expiry of provider backups take place through the processes described in that statement.
6. Trials, subscriptions and charges
The pilot offers a 14-day trial without a payment card. It does not automatically become a paid subscription. Paid access requires a separate, explicit subscription. Before you subscribe, the checkout must show the price, billing interval, included allowance, applicable taxes and cancellation arrangements. If paid subscriptions are not available for your account, no paid access is offered.
There are no automatic overage charges. Usage limits may pause further work until allowance is available. Your mobile, telephone or messaging provider may charge its usual rates independently of Shimi.
If you have an active subscription, use “Manage billing” under “Usage & billing” to manage or cancel it, or contact the team that invited you if you need help. Cancellation stops future renewals and the billing service will show when access ends. Nothing in these terms removes any statutory cooling-off, cancellation, refund or other consumer rights. Starting to use Shimi does not, by itself, waive those rights.
7. Availability and changes
We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. As a pilot, Shimi may experience errors, interruptions or changes to features. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every message, reminder or third-party action will complete on time. Keep independent copies of important files and a suitable alternative for essential tasks.
We may make reasonable changes to improve the service, address security issues or meet legal requirements. We will give reasonable notice of material changes that affect your use, unless urgent action is needed. Changes to subscription prices or billing terms will be communicated before they apply, with an opportunity to cancel before the change.
8. Ending or suspending access
You can stop using Shimi at any time, disconnect your accounts and request deletion in Settings. If you pay for a subscription, cancel it through Manage billing as well.
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a security risk, serious misuse, a breach of these terms or a legal requirement. We will explain the reason and allow you to raise a concern where lawful and appropriate. If we end the pilot or withdraw your access for another reason, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data where practicable. Any refund legally due for paid service remains payable.
9. Responsibility and your legal rights
You remain responsible for deciding whether an answer or proposed action is suitable for your circumstances. This does not remove our responsibility to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your mandatory consumer rights continue to apply.
10. Questions and updates to these terms
For account help, cancellation assistance, complaints or questions about these terms, reply to your pilot invitation or contact the person who provided it and ask for the Shimi team. Do not include passwords, sign-in codes or unnecessary sensitive information in your message.
We may update these terms to reflect service changes or legal requirements. The effective date appears above. We will notify existing users before material changes take effect, except where a legal or urgent security requirement prevents advance notice. Changes will not retrospectively remove rights you already have. You can stop using the service if you do not wish to continue under updated terms.
